Silver is the story now as it has broken above $35/oz and should challenge for a significant monthly and quarterly close.

See my notes at the very bottom. 

But let me digress today.

I just created some new analog charts for Gold.  

Gold's biggest breakouts, in order, are 1972, 2024 and 2005.

How would Gold perform over the coming years if it followed the course of those other two breakouts?

Gold's Biggest Breakouts- Long Term Analog

We plot Gold's performance from 1972 and 2005 on the scale of the current breakout move, which began in February 2024. 

There are two averages. 

One is the average between 1972 and 2005.

The other is the same average but instead of a half and half weighting, we weighted 1972 by 1/3 and 2005 by 2/3.

It highlights the next 2 years. 

We can clearly see all 5 lines.

In this chart we plot the current market (lack) and only the two averages.

Again, one average is the 1972 and 2005 post-breakout performance weighted equally. 

In the other average, we weight the 1972 performance by only 1/3 and the 2005 performance by 2/3.

The 1972-1974 move was quite a bit stronger and that is part of why it corrected 45%. You can see this in the previous image.

The 2005-2008 move was quite a bit weaker and that is why it corrected only 30%.  

The pure average of both peaks near $7000 on the current scale, and the ensuing correction is 30%.

The 1972 performance peaked at ~$9000 on this scale before that 45% correction.

This is a potential guide as to how Gold will correct when we get the 1975-1976 or 2008 style cyclical bear market.

Since Silver is the story right now, here is the updated analog chart.

I removed the 4 lines because it is messy. 

This is the current cyclical bull in Silver along with the average of the 4 best cyclical bulls. 

Those are the two in the 1970s and 2005-2008 and 2008-2011.

In TheDailyGold Premium....
