PDAC 2014 Underscores Muted Sentiment Towards Gold Stocks
PDAC highlighted the mild, cautious optimism from investors, executives and analysts. We argue that some of the sentiment is divorced from a new reality. Our work leads us to continue to be bullish over the near-term and balance of the year. In fact, take a look at GDX, GDXJ and GLDX. They appear to be very close to the start of the next leg up.

PDAC Presentation Notes
Here are a few things I discussed at the end of my presentation in regards to stock picking and portfolio management:
-Sell if a stock drops 20% from your buy price
-Overweight your favorite stocks
-Don't have too many positions
-Leaders over laggards
-Jurisdiction is key for explorers
We all know that limiting losses is extremely important when participating in the resource sector. The reason is most juniors will ultimately fail. Drops of 90% and 95% are common. Thus, make sure you have an exit strategy. Second, your top picks should be overweighted in your portfolio. It makes no sense for your top 3 picks to be weighted the same as #8 or #12. Also, unless you are a whale you don't need to have that many
stocks in your portfolio. You should be an expert on all the stocks you own. Limit your risk that way instead of carrying 50%-100% more stocks in your portfolio. Next, in a bull market you want to own the leaders. So don't be afraid to buy strength provided that company has further significant upside potential (and you have an exit strategy).
Finally, focus on junior explorers that explore in jurisdictions in which major companies operate. These would include among others, Nevada, Ontario, Quebec, Mexico and West Africa. Majors are more apt to acquire assets in the areas in which they already operate.

Unlike other services you don't have to wait to receive the updates or report. You receive tons of material (well over 150 pages of analysis, research and guidance) up front plus everything that comes over the next 6 months. It has been a great start to the year and we think it will continue. Our model portfolio is up 106% since 2010 while GDX and GDXJ are down over 40%. It's not far from reaching its all-time high. Furthermore, we have 4 favorite stocks.
Although each has moved quite a bit already we see excellent upside potential over the rest of the year and for 2015.
Consider subscribing to our professional analysis and research. It's a pleasure to work for subscribers because without them we couldn't do what we love. We never forget that because its true.
Thanks for reading. I wish you all great health and prosperity in 2014.
